Getting to Salt Spring Island
and to your luxury bed and breakfast
is easy & scenic - via the Gulf Islands!

The most common way of getting to Salt Spring Island is by BC Ferries.

By Ferry

There are many routes to your Salt Spring Island luxury bed and breakfast:

From Canada:

• From the Vancouver area (#1): Ferry directly to Salt Spring Island by taking the ferry from Tsawwassen, just south of Vancouver, to Long Harbour on Salt Spring Island.  This scenic ferry frequently makes brief stops at other Gulf Islands along the way. 
  
  If departure times are not convenient, the next option below gives greater flexibility.
   
• From the Vancouver area (#2):  Departing all day long, ferry to Salt Spring with a transfer. Take the ferry from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay just north of Victoria on Vancouver Island, and then take a connecting ferry from Swartz Bay to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island.  Purchase a "through fare" ticket which gives you a transfer.  (It is important that you purchase a "through fare" as it's more expensive otherwise!)  This route often takes no longer and there's no additional cost.
  
  Departure times are throughout the day and the transfer at Swartz Bay usually involves only a 20 minute turnaround.
  
  NOTE!  The cost of returning to Tsawwassen is about half the cost of getting to Salt Spring and for those going to Vancouver Island there is no charge at all.
   
• From Vancouver's North Shore:  It's possible to ferry across to Nanaimo from Horseshoe Bay just northwest of Vancouver. Then, from Nanaimo, drive 45 minutes south to Crofton for a 25 minute crossing to Salt Spring Island.  However, a "through fare" ticket is not available on this route.
   
• From the Victoria area:  Take the ferry from Swartz Bay just 30 minutes north of Victoria for a 35 minute crossing to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island.
   
• From areas north of Victoria:  Drive to Crofton just north of Duncan on Vancouver Island, then take the 25 minute ferry to Vesuvius Bay on Salt Spring Island.

From the USA:

• From Seattle:  U.S. visitors may also use either the Washington State Ferry System or the passenger only Victoria Clipper.
   
• From Anacortes:  U.S. visitors may also use the Washington State Ferry System.
   
• From Port Angeles:  take either the Coho Ferry System or the passenger-only Victoria Express.

Each of these U.S. ferries arrives at Sydney, just north of Victoria, BC.  From there it's a 5 minute drive north to Swartz bay to connect to BC Ferries for the 35 minute crossing to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island.

From Canada or the USA by Air:

1) SaltspringAir with service to the outer Gulf Islands, Vancouver, Tofino and other destinations - also available for scenic flights, charters & more.

2) Harbour Air Seaplanes with regular service between Vancouver downtown and International Airport to Salt Spring Island, Ganges Harbour, year round

3) SeaAir Seaplanes with service between Vancouver International Airport and Salt Spring Island, year round.

4) Kenmore Air with service between Salt Spring and Seattle, May - September, and between Victoria and Seattle, year round.
 

From the other Gulf Islands by Water Taxi:

Gulf Islands Water Taxi will get you from the Gulf Islands to Salt Spring but there is limited service each day.
